This lovely home overlooks the Pacific and needed an eco-friendly renovation that reflected the homeowner’s love of the ocean. We installed light gray washed, wide-plank wood floors throughout which complemented the stainless appliances and hardware perfectly. We relocated the microwave to above the stove top for much needed counter space, and extended the countertop peninsula and added a dramatic waterfall drop of engineered quartz to the floor. The linear glass and stone backslash includes several shades of beige and cream which are pulled from the floors and counter and beautifully mimics the sand of the beach below. A soft blue-gray shade was applied to walls and blue accents were carried throughout the remodel. The custom cabinetry was designed to go to the ceiling, giving the owner’s more cabinet space and custom storage solutions to fit their precise needs.
Fab Kitchen Rehab
This kitchen was beautiful before BUT look at the AFTER! The quartzite counters, linear glass tile backsplash and resurfaced cabinets make it a real show stopper. We also wrapped the island in wood and finished it and the hood in an espresso to complete the transformation.
La Jolla Living
The footprint of this kitchen was functional so we opted to be Sensibly Chic and reface the cabinets. We designed custom cabinet fronts and stained them a rich mahogany tone to contrast with the stone floors and new Caesarstone countertops and stainless appliances. The glass dinette table with modern upholstered side chairs in a gray woven textile, topped off with a shaded chrome chandelier with crystal accents makes this space truly a diner’s delight.
The only unchanged item in this kitchen is the granite countertop. New wood flooring that contrasts dramatically with the newly refinished white kitchen cabinets (refinished not replaced –money saver!). Also, new pendant light fixtures, crown moulding and a rounded glass-top bar area was added for additional seating. Simply chic and fabulous!
After a brief look around their neighborhood and determining it was much more cost effective to update their kitchen than move, these clients opted for an economical kitchen cabinet facelift. Using a 4-step process we gave these cabinets the rich look of mahogany (refrigerator panels were stained to match as well), added moulding to the top and bottom of the cabinets for a custom look and a fresh coat of paint to contrast with the granite and cabinetry – and wa-la, a dream kitchen comes to life!
Del Mar Divine
Custom kitchens need not be daunting! To keep costs down, we kept the same floor plan since it was working well for the client; we simply updated the cabinetry to suit her needs (adding more full-extension drawers), beautiful granite counter tops and custom glass back splash – all colors reminiscent of nearby Del Mar Beach. New appliances, new recessed lighting and an extended peninsula bar make this remodel, absolutely divine.
This homeowner wanted to desperately update her kitchen but didn’t want to spend a fortune since she planned to rent out her home in the near future. To accomplish her design goals, we kept a similar footprint (no need to move plumbing, etc.) and expanded her kitchen by giving her two pantries and a beverage center/ wine bar area for entertaining. Her custom cabinetry was selected to contrast beautifully with her travertine and wood floors (another money saver as she will put wood floors throughout when budget permits). We replaced her drop fluorescent light box with glass pendants and recessed lighting for better light control. The new granite counters, tumbled tile backsplash and new stainless steel appliances all make this a dream kitchen without the dream kitchen price tag!
Torrey Hills Kitchen
The client had always disliked the dark granite and hard-to-maintain wood floors in her kitchen. But since the floor plan of the kitchen worked for her family we decided to save some money and leave the cabinetry and update the flooring with stone, replace the granite slab countertops, add a custom backsplash and window treatments to give her the lighter feel she desired. A new coat of paint to tie the whole look together and crown moulding as the crowning-jewel complete this beautiful kitchen design.
The beautiful granite and the sage green in this kitchen make all the difference. The inspiration for the plaster finish on the kitchen hood was found in the wine label artwork and creates a dramatic focal point so beauty and function can peacefully coexist.
LaCosta Vacation Home
From concept to completion, this vacation home had to reflect the East Coast vacationers need for easy entertaining coupled with casual elegance. The dark green granite counter tops were chosen to complement the cherry cabinets and tumbled tile backsplash. The roman shades soften all the hard stone lines and allow for privacy while the homeowners are away. Custom made drapes, table runner and seat cushions (not shown) complement the tableware and add additional layers of texture to this simply elegant kitchen.
Country Cottage Chic
From lack luster and un-functional to Country Cottage Cute-as-Pie! This kitchen not only reflects the client’s love of Cottage-Chic furnishings, but the functionality of the kitchen also increased due to the removal of the obtrusive island and conversion of unused drawer and cabinet space to usable space. We had the cabinets antiqued an off-white with chocolate glaze, which muted the modern look of stainless steel appliances. The planked ceilings and the crown molding give the room the warmth and dimension that were much needed. Additionally we added plaid valances and draperies and a whimsical chandelier to complete the transformation – Bon Appétit!
The inspiration in this kitchen was the homeowners collection of beautiful Tuscan ceramics. The lemon theme was carried throughout – the sunny lemon colored Venetian plaster finish on the hood finished with hand-painted lemon accent tiles, a backsplash detail with lemons and grapes is surrounded by tumbled limestone and granite accents. The lighted pot rack over the granite island illuminates her hand-chosen ceramics beautifully.
This outdated kitchen needed a complete remodel so we started by raising the dated ceiling and adding recessed lighting and designed beautifully crafted custom cabinets to enhance the new wood floors. We designed the island with plenty of storage and seating and slightly rearranged a few essentials so the kitchen had optimum flow and ease of use for the client. New stainless steel appliances, including a cabinet-depth refrigerator and Madagascar gold granite slab counters with tumbled stone backsplash complete the transformation.
